The Equipment Inventory, Reservation and Checkout System.

The following files can be downloaded and are an electronic version of the complete printed manuals that come with the MacCheckout software and they are in "pdf" format.
The documentation comes with a unrestricted licence, which allows you to copy the documentation as you see fit. The only contraint is that the cover page of each manual is included with any copy that is made of it, in part or total. This page contains the appropriate contact details for the MacCheckout author.

User's Guide Documentation:
 
 
 

00 Users Guide.pdf (327K) - contains the complete users guide for people using the system in the "Launched" mode. This can be used as a training manual and contains examples of how to do things like make a reservation. It also gives illustrations about what can go wrong with a reservation, e.g. someone else has the item already reserved.

01 SysIntroDoc.pdf (57K) - contains an introduction to the software. This includes the system requirements needed to run the system, how to install the software and a brief theory on how the software works.

 
 
 

02 MenuDoc.pdf (51K) - contains a complete description of the menu layout and the function each menu command performs.

 
 
 

03 SetupDoc.pdf (143K) - contains a complete description of how to set up the software so that it can perform in the manner required.

 
 
 

04 EquipDoc.pdf (110K) - contains a complete description of a record for a piece of equipment. This includes: adding, editing and deleting equipment. The functions available for manipulating groups of equipment are also covered.

 
 
 

05 PeopleDoc.pdf (118K) - contains a complete description of a record for a person. This includes: adding, editing and deleting a persons record. Accessing "Fine" records are also covered.

 
 
 

06 FileDoc.pdf (124K) - contains a complete description of the functions under the "File" menu. These functions include importing and exporting data from the system and transfering data between different copies of the MacCheckout software running on different machines.

 
 
 

07 FunctionsDoc.pdf (261K) - contains a complete description of the functions under the "Functions" menu. These functions include authorizing and scheduling equipment, putting equipment on and off line and generating reports from the system for statistical analysis.

 
 
 

08 EmailDoc.pdf (261K) - contains a complete description of the functions under the "Email" menu. These functions include setting the communication methods for MacCheckout, Automating certain email functions and sending mass emails to all people or sub groups of people in the system.

 
 
 

09 CleanUpDoc.pdf (61K) - contains a complete description of the functions listed under the "Cleanup Utilities" submenu in the "Functions" menu. These functions are used when the system administrator wants to delete data globally from the system: e.g. removing all authorizations from the system. (This can be used to reset the system at the end of a semester.)

 
 
 

10 MassAuthDoc.pdf> (118K) - contains a complete description of the "Mass Authorization" function listed under the "Functions" menu. This can be used to create and control the access of groups of people to equipment, either by authorization or by time schedules.

 
 
 

11 MultipleLocDoc.pdf (46K) - contains a complete description of the functions that can be used to transfer data from one copy of MacCheckout to another. This can be used in the event of MacCheckout being used at multiple remote sites and data must be transfered between those sites, e.g. the transfer of "Fine" records.

 
 
 

12 GlossaryDoc.pdf (45K) - contains a glossary of all the terms used in the documentation.
